This was a multi part process and took some time. Fortunately, my buddy knew what he was doing. My black diamond plate was still on back order so we had to spray the trim strips individually. I put the trim strips on after I installed the diamond plate.

First we sanded the cabinets and taped off the area. Then we sprayed everything with primer. We let dry, lightly sanded and sprayed everything with one coat of red lacquer. We let dry, lightly sanded and sprayed everything again with black lacquer. We let dry and strategically sanded the bar in areas to make it look like the top coat of black was wearing thin. This is where the red lacquer shows through. We then sprayed with a clear coat that was very soft and gave everything a satin finish.
